ADAS Calibration

ADAS CALIBRATION in Langley

Keep your car’s safety systems seeing straight.

Expert ADAS calibration from the Langley diagnostics specialists.

If your windshield, camera, radar or suspension has been touched, your Advanced Driver Assistance Systems may no longer read the road correctly. At MD Diagnostics, we recalibrate them to manufacturer specifications so lane keeping, emergency braking and collision warning respond exactly when you need them.

Precision ADAS Calibration You Can Trust

Today’s vehicles rely on a network of cameras, radar and sensors to power the safety features that help prevent collisions. These components are precise to the millimetre and fractions of a degree – and even a small change to your vehicle can throw them off. When that happens, the systems designed to protect you can misfire, alert late, or fail to respond at all.

MD Diagnostics is a Langley-based diagnostics shop that specializes in getting these systems right. With decades of combined experience and 195+ ADAS calibrations completed, we use the correct targets, tools and factory procedures for your specific make and model — then verify every system before you drive away.

What Is ADAS Calibration?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – the safety technology built into most vehicles made in the last several years. Calibration is the process of precisely aligning the cameras, radar and sensors that power these systems so they interpret the road accurately.

Proper calibration keeps features like these working the way the manufacturer intended:

  • Lane keeping assist and lane departure warning
  • Automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Parking assist and 360° camera systems

When these systems aren’t calibrated correctly, they can give false warnings – or, more dangerously, miss a hazard entirely.

When Does Your Vehicle Need ADAS Calibration?

Many drivers don’t realize how often calibration is required. It’s not just for collisions – routine repairs frequently disturb the sensors. Your vehicle likely needs an ADAS calibration after:

  • Windshield replacement (the forward-facing camera is usually mounted to the glass)
  • A collision or any body/bumper repair
  • Wheel alignment or suspension and steering work
  • Replacing or removing a camera, radar unit or sensor
  • Changing ride height, tires or wheel size
  • A dashboard warning light for a driver-assist or safety system

If any of these apply to your vehicle, don’t assume the systems reset themselves – they don’t. Bring it in and we’ll confirm whether calibration is needed.

Static vs. Dynamic Calibration

Depending on your vehicle and the work performed, calibration is done one of two ways — and some vehicles require both.

Static Calibration

Performed in the shop with the vehicle stationary, using manufacturer-approved targets positioned at exact distances and angles. Common after windshield replacement, camera/sensor replacement and structural repairs.

Dynamic Calibration

Performed on the road under controlled conditions so the system relearns its positioning from real-world driving. Common after wheel alignments, suspension work and certain collision repairs. Because dynamic calibration depends on correct wheel alignment, having both done under one roof – like we do at MD Diagnostics – saves you a second trip.

OUR TEAM ARE ON HAND AND WAITING TO HELP.

Don’t leave your safety systems to chance. Book your ADAS calibration with the Langley specialists at MD Diagnostics and drive away confident everything is working exactly as it should.

Why Proper Calibration Matters

Your ADAS features are safety equipment, not conveniences. A sensor that’s off by even a fraction of a degree can point the camera metres off-target down the road – the difference between your car braking in time and not at all. Correct calibration:

  • Keeps automatic emergency braking and collision warning responsive
  • Ensures lane keeping and lane departure systems read markings accurately
  • Maintains reliable blind spot and cross-traffic detection
  • Restores adaptive cruise control to proper following distances
  • Gives you documented proof the work was done to spec – useful for insurance and resale
"We were referred to MD Diagnostic after getting some body work done at Reborn, as our car started making a weird rubber rubbing noise. Storm was incredibly friendly and professional, and took the time to thoroughly diagnose the issue. What we really appreciated was his honesty—no upselling, just fixing what actually needed to be fixed. It’s hard to find a trustworthy shop these days, but this is definitely one of them. We’ll definitely be coming back if anything comes up again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and honest auto repair shop. Thank you, Storm and Stu!"

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’ve had a windshield replaced, a collision repair, a wheel alignment, suspension work, or a sensor/camera replaced – or you see a driver-assist warning light – your vehicle likely needs calibration. If you’re unsure, we can scan your vehicle and tell you.

Most calibrations take 1–3 hours depending on the vehicle and whether static, dynamic or both procedures are required. We’ll give you a time estimate when you book.

Yes. On most modern vehicles the forward-facing camera is mounted to the windshield. Once the glass is removed and replaced, the camera’s aim shifts and must be recalibrated for systems like lane keeping and emergency braking to work correctly.

You can, but you shouldn’t rely on the safety features. Uncalibrated systems may warn late, warn falsely, or fail to react – and you may not know until it matters. It’s a safety and potentially a liability issue.

Cost depends on your vehicle and the type of calibration required. Contact us with your year, make and model and the repair you had done, and we’ll give you an accurate quote.
